Voltaren®
Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions
- Voltaren® is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by a breakdown of the lining of the joints), rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis caused by swelling of the lining of the joints), and ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis that mainly affects the spine).
- Voltaren® immediate-release (short-acting) tablets are also used to treat painful menstrual periods and pain from other causes.
- Voltaren® is also sometimes used to treat pain caused by gout, painful shoulder and cancer.
Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
- People taking Voltaren® may experience diarrhea, constipation, gas or bloating, headache, dizziness and ringing in the ears.
- People who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) (other than aspirin) such as Voltaren® may have a higher risk of having a heart attack or a stroke than people who do not take these medications.
- These events may happen without warning and may cause death. This risk may be higher for people who take NSAIDs like Voltaren® for a long time.
Dosage and Administration
- Following an initial loading dose of Voltaren® 50mg, 25-50mg is to be taken every eight hours if necessary.
- The maximum daily dose is 150mg.
- Take Voltaren® at around the same time(s) every day.
Important
- Take Diclofenac (Generic Voltaren®) exactly as directed.
- Do not take Diclofenac (Generic Voltaren®) more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
