HISTOP (Antihistamine)
COMPOSITION Tablet : Each tablet contains chlorpheniramine maleate B.P 4mg.
PROPERTIES HISTOP (Chlorpheniramine maleate) has very good
Therapeutic efficacy as histamine antagonist with a very low
incidence of side effects. It antagonizes H1 receptors of
histamine
INDICATIONS HISTOP is used in:
- Allergic manifestations such as allergic rhinitis, vasomotor
rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis and hay fever.
- Allergic skin manifestations such as urticaria, angioedema,
allergic eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and
insect bites
- Spasmodic bronchial cough without dyspnea especially when
cough preparation may prevent sleep unless combined with
sedatives
- Serum sickness.
- Drugs allergy
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
ADULTS :
one tablet 3-4 times daily or two teaspoonful 3-4 times daily.
CHILDREN :
(6-12 Years): 1-2 teaspoonful 3 times daily.
(1-6 Years): ½ - 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
It is contraindicated in patients receiving tricyclic antidepressant therapy and those with hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine maleate
PRECAUTIONS
This drug may produce mild sedation and it is advised that patients under continuous treatment should avoid operating machinery
